Raymond M. Cook, Sr.

Raymond M. Cook, Sr., 72 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bryson City, NC, on February 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Pink Jesse Cook Sr. and the late Minnie Sutton Cook. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise Cook who passed on January 19, 2007. He was a carpenter for 35 years at Nowland Associates, Newark, DE. Mr. Cook was a member of Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading the Bible and was an avid deer hunter. Survivors include five daughters: Patty Reed of North East, MD, Linda Kennedy of Rising Sun, MD, Nancy Harris of Bloomsburg, PA, Martha Comer of Elkton, MD, Jenny Patrick of North East, MD and two sons: Raymond Cook, Jr. of Elkton, MD, Jesse Cook of North East, MD; four sisters: Thelma Woodard of Bryson City, NC, Evelyn McGough of Elkton, MD, Agnes Davis of Elkton, MD, Barbara Laswell of Aberdeen, MD and one brother: Bruce Cook of North East, MD; 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a son: Richard Cook; grandson Christopher Kennedy; 2 sisters: Louise Davis and Ruth Ann Barnes; a brother: Junior Cook; and a daughter-in-law, Teri Hill Cook. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Dennis Gilbert will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, 1168 West Old Philadelphia Road, Charlestown, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD to help with funeral expenses.
