Randall Scott Halterman, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Deposit, Maryland, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, just two days before his 64th birthday. Born on April 17, 1962, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Randy was the cherished son of the late Richard and Ruth (Shank) Halterman.
Randy's life was a testament to dedication and love—both in his work and his family. As a skilled machinist employed by MATIV in Middletown, Delaware, he was known for his steadfast commitment to his craft. But beyond his professional life, Randy’s true passions were found in the simple joys of life: fishing in quiet waters, camping beneath the stars, capturing the beauty of the world through photography, and delighting in the art of “tinkering” with projects, always eager to create or fix something with his hands.
Most importantly, Randy treasured his family above all else. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Mary M. (Rinehart) Halterman, who stood by his side through every chapter. Together, they nurtured a large and close-knit family. His two daughters, Tiffany Montague of Windsor, Pennsylvania, and Amanda Leikam of Baltimore, Maryland, along with his three sons—Randall S. Halterman, Jr. of Dover, Pennsylvania; Kenneth Comer, Jr. of Port Deposit, Maryland; and Jonathon Badolato of Baltimore, Maryland—carry forth his legacy. Randy’s warmth and guidance extended to twelve grandchildren and a great-grandson, who will forever remember the love and laughter he shared.
Randy also leaves behind his sisters, Pam Matter of Port Royal, Pennsylvania, and Joyce Goff, whose bond with him was as enduring as it was loving. His family grieves the loss of a brother, Richard Halterman, Jr., who preceded him in death, along with their parents.
The loss of Randall Scott Halterman, Sr. leaves a void that words can scarcely fill. He was a man whose hands built not only things but also memories filled with kindness, humor, and steadfast love. His presence was a gentle anchor in the lives of those who knew him—a source of strength and quiet joy.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Randy’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., located at 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Visitation will begin earlier that afternoon at 1:00 pm and continue until the time of the service. Reverend Dennis Gilbert will lead the service, offering words of comfort and remembrance.
As family and friends gather to bid farewell, they hold close the memories of a man who found happiness in his family’s smiles, the peace of nature, and the simple art of making things better with his own hands. Randy’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and unwavering devotion, and he will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
