Rachel Leona Ball, 90 of Rising Sun, MD, loving mother, grandmother to all who needed comfort, died Monday, March 18, 2013 in the Elkton Care and Rehab, Elkton, MD.

Born in Russell County, VA, on January 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Noah and the late Louise (Barton) Cook.  She married John Ball on March 13, 1941 who died Sept. 21, 1985.

Rachel lived in Cecil County since 1941 and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Elkton, MD.  She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church of North East.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and about the Bible for over 70 years. She also enjoyed her flowers.

Survivors include her children: Robert H. Ball and his wife Barbara of North East, MD and Bonnie L. Brison of North East, MD; 2 siblings: Ruby Karschner of Elkton, MD and Millard Cook of Honaker, VA; 3 grandchildren: Donny, Barry and Heather: 4 great grandchildren: John, Justin, Kimmy and Leona; numerous nieces and nephews; and special thanks to Kathryn Combs and Kathy Miller and her many caring, loving friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Arthur, Basil, Albert, Noah, Carroll, Norman, Mary, Beulah, Edna and Martha.

Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Chris Karschner and Rev. Ron Silverman will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will be held Friday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
