Philip Ronald Chuy, Jr., age 62, of North East, Maryland, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Laurelwood Care Center, Elkton, Maryland. Born in Irvington, New Jersey, on January 2, 1942, he was a son of the late Philip R. Chuy, Sr., and Mae Zelinsky Chuy. Mr. Chuy retired from the Cecil County Board of Education after 38 years as a band director. He had a great love of music that showed in his teaching of the subject. He also loved hunting, boating, and fishing, and carved and collected decoys. Mr. Chuy is survived by his wife, Daisy S. Chuy, North East, Maryland; his 3 sons, Philip R. Chuy, III, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, William Daniel Chuy, Lexington, South Carolina, and Bradford Simpson, Savannah, Georgia; a brother, Robert B. Chuy, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and 3 grandchildren, Calla Chuy, Logan Chuy, and Isabelle Chuy. Family and friends are invited to call from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 6, 2004, at North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. The Rev. Boyd B. Etter of North East United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, Maryland.
