Patricia Ann Hafer-Lester, 63 of North East, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2011. She courageously fought a battle with pancreatic cancer. Her determination and unique sense of humor brought joy and hope to all of those that were in her life as she fought this disease. She was truly an inspiration to us all. Patricia was born in Baltimore, MD, on April 23, 1948. She graduated from The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She later furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware. Her working career was concluded at Chase Manhattan Bank as a senior credit card collector. Patricia was a multifaceted and talented individual. She enjoyed crafting, arranging flowers, gardening, blogging, cooking and photography. She excelled in cooking, crafting and photography. Her pictures were entered in the Cecil County Fair for over 30 years. They always placed at least 1st, 2nd or 3rd. She was very intelligent with a quick and sarcastic sense of humor. In which was taken or left. It was part of her charm just the same. Her compassion for animals was far reaching. This was demonstrated by the variety of her pets throughout her life. Patty was also an avid sports fan. She loved baseball especially and was a faithful follower of the Baltimore Orioles. She was a very giving and compassionate person. She loved her friends deeply and would go the extra mile if they had a need. Survivors include her husband: Russell Lester, of North East, MD; 3 children: Jeffrey Mark Mosteiko of Baltimore, MD, Wendi Michelle Mosteiko of Catonsville, MD and Robyn Leigh Mosteiko-Jalbert of Nashville, GA; her mother: Virginia Cockey Ulrich of Baltimore, MD; and her grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, Shannon, Matthew and Madison. She was preceded in death by her father: Harry G. Ulrich. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Lifesong Christian Church, 424 Oldfield Point Road, Elkton, MD. Rev. Chris Engelberth will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations to the church or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
