Nancy Bell Roark Barton, 83 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at home. Born in Bristol, VA, on November 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late David E. and the late Genie E. Arnold Poe. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, bingo and Delaware Park, especially the slot machines. Survivors include her children: Hazel Eastridge and her husband Billy Joe of North East, MD, Carol Rolfe and her husband Earl of Millington, MD, Billy R. Roark, Sr. and his companion Helen Hamm of North East, MD, Alfa Lee Boutchyard and her husband Leonard of Elkton, MD, Carl J. Roark and his wife Betty of North East, MD, Ruby Hoggatt and her companion Hermie of Aberdeen, MD, and Fred Ewing of KY; her step-children, Loretta Kessler and her husband Cecil, Martha Jane Cornette and her husband Keith, Anita Cleary and her husband John, Edmond Barton, all of North East, MD, and John A. Barton, Sr. and his wife Linda of Newport, DE; 44 grandchildren, 98 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Colonel T. Roark in 1976, her second husband, William Fred Barton in 1996; a son, Bobby Dean Roark in 1959; and her siblings, Bill, Jack, Gurnie, Jim, Johnny, Betty and Alfa Lee Poe, Mary Reynolds and Alice Grubbs. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends held from 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
