Monty Dwight Johnson

Monty Dwight "Buck" Johnson 61 of Rising Sun, MD, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Maben, WV, on September 29, 1946, he was the son of the late Earl and the late Effie Faye Basham Johnson. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. Johnson of Rising Sun, MD. Mr. Johnson served during the Vietnam War in the Army from 1968-1969, a member of C-Troop 1st Squadron 1st Calvary. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star V-Device recipient. He worked for Chrysler, retiring after 35 years of service. He was an avid WV Mountaineers fan, a Dallas Cowboys fan and loved hunting. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids. Mr. Johnson was a member of Union Lodge No. 48, First Regiment of Dragoons, 1st Squadron 1st Calvary Association and the Tall Cedars In addition to his loving wife, survivors include: his children: Montica D. Johnson, Monty D. Johnson, John B. Mars all of Rising Sun, MD, and Albert R. Mars of Bel Air, MD; his siblings: Zivia Powers of Newark, DE, Sheila Hubert of Shady Springs, WV, Dreama Pack of Beckley, WV, Gerald Johnson of Jumping Branch, WV; and also five grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901, with visitation for family and friends held Tuesday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 9:00 AM in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project, in care of the funeral home.
