Miriam Eleanor (Friend) Butler

Miriam Eleanor Butler (nee Friend), 95 of North East, MD, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

Born in Hooversville, PA on September 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Otho and the late Verna (Lape) Friend.  She was the wife of the late Wilbur “Wil” Butler for 54 years before he passed in 1999.

Mrs. Butler was a Telephone Operator for C & P Telephone and a homemaker.

Survived by her grandchildren: David Butler of Elkton, MD and Sue Ellen Gold of North East, MD; a daughter-in-law: Pamela Ellen Butler of Elkton, MD; 4 great grandchildren:  John, Tyler, Layla and Mary Ellen; 4 step grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren.  Other survivors include: one brother: Alden Friend of CA; two sisters: Barbara Helbig of MD, Catherine Mullen of CA; and her stepdaughter, Betty Joan Remai of Pittsburgh, PA;

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her one son: John Wilbur Butler.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, 198 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD.  A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon at Glasgow Baptist Church, 3021 Old Country Road, Newark, DE.
