Michael Norman Gandy, 66 of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2011at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Baltimore, MD, on November 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert Gandy, Jr. and the late Kathryn Rita Odendhal Gandy. He is survived by his loving companion of 20 years and wife of 11 years: Linda Blake Gandy; his 3 sons: Michael Gandy, his wife Janice and children of Monkton, MD, Lewis Gandy of Elkton, MD and Joshua Gandy of Newark, DE; his 3 stepchildren: Cheri Darling, her partner Kevin and children of New Castle, DE,, Rob Venker, wife Jettie and children of Licking, MD, Dean Venker, wife Kathy and children of Abingdon, MD; 2 brothers and 1 sister, of Baltimore, MD. Michael was a Vietnam War Veteran. He retired from General Motors, Baltimore, MD after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW. He attended Towne Baptist and Beacon Baptist Churches and volunteered at Amazing Grace Outreach Ministries, Middletown, DE. He loved classic cars and collected model antique cars. He liked going out to eat, especially for steamed crabs and steamed shrimp and enjoyed playing board games. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Danny Moore will be held Wednesday. July 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment with full military honors will be on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
