Melvin Lovitt, Jr.
Born in Eureka, NC, on September 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Melvin Lovitt, Sr. and the late Edith (Terrell) Lovitt.
Melvin served his county in the Army during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sgt. During his service, he earned numerous medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After the war, he worked as a diesel mechanic and in construction.
He enjoyed cooking and was a quiet man who loved spending his time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Shirley Lovitt of Milton, DE; his children: Lesia Lovitt, Kenneth Joynes, Jacqueline Golden, Tamala Wescott, Kimberly Bratten and Tanya Tepe; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 pm until service time.
Interment with full military honors will be Monday, October 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
