Max Hellstern, Sr., age 91, of Elkton, MD, peacefully crossed the threshold of life on Friday, August 8, 2025. Born on July 17, 1934, in Germany, he was the cherished son of the late Otto and Hermine (Angler) Hellstern.
Max honorable served in the U.S. Air Force, 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church and Knight's of Columbus. A beloved baker, Max dedicated his life to crafting confections that brought joy to many. He owned and operated Hellstern's Bakeries.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Deborah DeMatt (Neil) of Elkton, MD, and his son, Eric Hellstern (Karen) of North East, MD. Max's legacy continues to live on through his beloved grandchildren-13 in total-and 13 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delorse M. Hellstern, and his sons, Christopher Hellstern and Max Hellstern Jr.
Friends and family are invited to honor Max's life on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, located at 454 Bow Street, Elkton. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, celebrating a life well-lived.
Interment will take place at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Elkton, where he will be laid to rest in eternal peace.
