She was born in Grundy, VA, on June 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Virginia Tennessee (Skeens) Nunley.
Maudie was the owner/operator of Bell Fireworks Co. in Elkton, MD
She is survived by her children: Theresa Negron and her husband Jorge of Port Deposit, MD, Tony Gilbert and his wife Debbie of North East, MD, Gena Brooks and her companion Mike Sinclair of Bear, DE and William G. "Hoss" Brooks Jr. and his wife Virginia of Conowingo, MD; her brother: Mack Nunley of Elkton, MD; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence Gilbert; daughter: Dewanna Gilbert and companion: William G. Brooks.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 PM until service time.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery.
