Mary A. Preston

Mary A. Preston, 88 a longtime resident of North East, MD, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and later moved to North East when she married Charles R. “Potter” Preston, Jr. A devoted homemaker, mother and wife, Mary was always the one to help and generously donating her energy and time to charity and community. She was a long-time organizer of the United Methodist bread/food donations, helped out at children’s Sunday school and enjoyed being an Usher at church on Sunday. She spent time at the North East Senior Center socializing and playing games with family and friends. She enjoyed yard work, planting flowers every spring and being outside. One of her favorite things, was to sit out on her back porch and watch the boats and sunset over the water in North East.

Mary is survived by her two children: Charles Preston, III and Patricia Hastings; daughter-in-law Carrie Suttle; 3 grandchildren: Maddox Preston, Parker Preston and Lisa Hinkleman; and 2 great grandchildren: Brianna and Kylie Hinkleman.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband: Charles R. “Potter” Preston, Jr.; daughter: Linda Metz and grandson: Charles Hollick.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.

Interment follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

As mandated by Maryland Law, all COVID restrictions will be strictly adhered to.
