Mary J. Whitehead

Mary J. Whitehead, 95 of North East, MD, died Saturday, December 20, 2025, in the Autumn Lake at Calvert Manor, Rising Sun, MD.

Born in Elk Neck, MD, on December 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Emma (Kirkpatrick) Johnson. Mrs. Whitehead was the loving wife of Leon A. Whitehead, who died in 2007.

She retired from Cecil Community College with 19 years of service as a secretary in the nursing department. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of North East United Methodist Church. Mary loved the lord with all her heart, and she was a prayer warrior.

Survived by two daughters: Linda A. Powers of North East, MD, and Sharon L. Smith of Rising Sun, MD. Also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters Frances Johnson and Margaret Hamilton.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. There will be a viewing one hour before the service.

Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
