Mary Frances Green, 75, of North East, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in North East, Maryland. She was born on February 3, 1951, in Oakland, California, and was the beloved daughter of the late Gene and Mary (Colburn) Sasser.

Mary was a loving wife, sister, aunt, godmother, teacher, and friend whose warmth and zest for life touched so many people. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Donald J. Green, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and many cherished memories for 55 years.

Mary had a true passion for teaching. She was a beloved kindergarten teacher at Perryville Elementary School, where she had the wonderful opportunity to help young children begin their educational journey. She cared deeply for her students and took great pride in watching them learn, grow, and discover the world around them.

In addition to her career in education, Mary was the Vice President of Bay Boat Works, where she dedicated 23 years of her life. Her strong work ethic, intelligence, and dedication made her an important part of the company and the people she worked alongside. Mary took great pride in the marina and in achieving certification as a Maryland Clean Marina. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to protecting the waterways she loved, the marina became the first in the area to receive this prestigious certification. The Maryland Clean Marina Initiative recognizes marinas, boatyards, and yacht clubs that not only meet legal requirements but also voluntarily embrace practices that help prevent pollution and protect Maryland’s beautiful waterways. This achievement was especially meaningful to Mary, and she was incredibly proud of the role she and her family played in earning this hard-won distinction.

Outside of work, Mary was happiest when she was active and outdoors. She was an avid walker and could walk extraordinary distances, sometimes as much as 20 miles in a day. She especially loved walking along the beach, where she could enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the shore. She was also an enthusiastic bicyclist and wind surfer, always eager for her next adventure.

Mary had an enormous love for animals, especially her beloved dogs and cats, who were treasured members of her family. Her compassionate heart extended to all creatures, and she found great joy in caring for them.

Above all, Mary cherished her family and her goddaughters, Kylie and Emily Hubbs, whom she loved immensely. She was a very special presence in their lives, and the love she shared with them will remain with them always.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Donald J. Green; her sister, Cheryl Meekins; her sister-in-law, June Sasser; nephew, Brian Sasser; niece, Shannon Sasser; goddaughters, Kylie Hubbs and Emily Hubbs; and the parents of her godchildren, Jody Hubbs and Steve Hubbs.

Mary will be remembered for her loving heart, adventurous spirit, incredible energy, and the genuine happiness she brought to the people and animals she loved. She lived life fully and passionately, always finding something to enjoy, someone to care for, or somewhere new to explore. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
