Mary Louise Collins (Vasilescu) left us on Tuesday February 18th 2025 after 90 years of sharing her amazing light with all of us. She was a wonderfully caring person who went out of her way to connect with others who needed her care and support. She was born June 12, 1934 in Galveston, Texas to George T. Vasilescu and Doris Louise Bavoux.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers George, Jr and Cornelius. She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, James C. (Jim) Collins Sr whom she loved dearly and their relationship stands as an example of mutual love and care. She is also survived by her two children James (Jim) Collins Jr and Jackie C Hall and their spouses Tina Collins and Rob Hall. She also has three adoring grandsons Nate Hall and spouse Patricia, George Collins, and James (Trey) Collins III and his spouse Kelsie and their children, her great grandchildren Bennett James and Emery Annette Collins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted homemaker, church secretary, day school bookkeeper, and friend to many. She was a Church Elder and past Moderator of Presbyterian Women. She loved to travel and toured the country and world while being grounded in her home. She was a wonderful cook and well known for her chocolate chip cookies. A several time cancer survivor, her courage helped so many others endure that fight. She was a Christian and believed in the power of prayer and helped many with her thoughts. Our family will miss her smile, her cheerful nature and helpful approach.

We little knew the day that God was going to call her name. In life we loved her dearly, In death we do the same.
She left us peaceful memories. Her love is still our guide, And though we cannot see her She is always at our side.
It broke our hearts to lose her But she didn’t go alone. For part of us went with her The day God called her home.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
