Marvin Clayton Jackson, Sr.

Marvin Clayton Jackson, Sr., 95, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Born on February 8, 1931, in Pulaski, Virginia, Marvin was the son of the late Robert Jackson and Lillie Ratcliffe Jackson Charlton. Throughout his long life, Marvin was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to his family and community.

Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era, spending part of his military service stationed in Germany. Following his time in the Army, he built a hardworking career as a laborer with G.H. American Lock Joint.

A life of service came naturally to Marvin. He was a founding Father of Christ the King Church in Havre de Grace and dedicated many years to the fire and emergency services community. He served as a chaplain and was actively associated with the Harford-Cecil Volunteer Firemen's Association, Cecil County Firemen's Association, Cecil County Department of Emergency Services, and the Maryland State Firemen's Association (MSFA). Through his involvement with these organizations, Marvin formed many lasting friendships while faithfully serving others and his community.

Despite his many accomplishments and years of service, the greatest joy in Marvin's life was always his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent gathered around the table, sharing a meal with the people he loved. For Marvin, those meals were about much more than food—they were a time for conversation, laughter, stories, and simply being together. It was in these everyday moments that he found some of life's greatest happiness.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara E. Jackson, and his siblings, Madeline Chenault and Harvey "Bud" Charlton.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Faith Anne Burke of Elkton, Maryland; Marvin C. Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Aberdeen, Maryland; and Sarah J. Runk and her husband, Randy, of Rising Sun, Maryland; his three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his siblings, Dora Reager, Margaret Hall, and Lucy Guinn.

Marvin leaves behind a legacy firmly rooted in faith, family, fellowship, and service to others. His dedication to his country and community will be remembered with gratitude, while those who knew him best will treasure the simpler memories—the conversations, the meals shared together, and the comfort of having Marvin at the table surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Christ the King Church, 410 Webb Lane, Havre de Grace, Maryland. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Christ the King Church in Havre de Grace, Maryland, with Bishop Ronald Estep and Pastor Kenneth Van Dyke officiating.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Port Deposit, Maryland.
