Martha Ellen Johnson, the daughter of the late Harry and Iola Brown was born November 8, 1942 in Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.
Martha received her education at George Washington Carver High School in Elkton, MD. She worked in housekeeping at Perry Point VA Medical Center in Perryville, MD.
Martha was a believer of Jesus Christ. During her childhood, she was raised in Reed’s AUMP Church, North East, MD where she served on the choir. Later, she attended Zion Temple Church in Havre de Grace, MD where she was baptized and attended bible study when able.
Martha loved cooking, watching horror movies, and listening to hymns on Sunday mornings. She loved playing cards with family. She had a good heart and opened her home to family and friends.
She showed great strength and perseverance during her time of illness. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and family.
Martha passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Lorien Bulle Rock Nursing Home in Havre de Grace, MD. In her days at Lorien, she was surrounded by the love and comfort of family and friends with their hugs, kisses and prayers. She was 73 years old. Martha was preceded in death by her Mother and Father: Harry and Iola Brown, Sisters: Emma Liggins, Dorothy Fews and Barbara Goode. Brothers: Henry Brown, Harry Brown, Herman Brown, Joseph Brown, Clyde Brown and George Brown.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Daughter: Marchelle Johnson, Havre de Grace, MD; Sons: Ryan Johnson of Perryville, MD, Michael Manning of Havre de Grace, MD; Daughter-in-law: Emma Johnson, Perryville, MD; Sisters: Pauline Wanzer, Aberdeen, MD, Bettymae Brown, Philadelphia, PA, Sandra Perkins, Havre de Grace, MD and Cora Brown, Wilmington, DE; Brother: Raymond Brown, Pleasantville, NJ; Sister-in-law: Margo Brown, Pleasantville, NJ. Grandchildren: Denise Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Candace Ingram, Joshua Ingram and Elijah Johnson along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that she loved very dearly.
Homegoing services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until service time.
Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, North East, MD.
