Mark Stuart Peterson

Mark Stuart Peterson, 46, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026.

Born on October 3, 1979, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mark lived a life defined by service, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years before continuing his career as a Budget Analyst with CECOM, supporting the U.S. Army. He was respected not only for his intelligence and dedication but also for his willingness to help others whenever he could.

Outside of work, Mark enjoyed music, movies, sports, computers, and coaching Little League, where he found great joy in mentoring young athletes. He had a quiet strength, a caring heart, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.

Above all, Mark's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved sons, Matthew G. Peterson of Rising Sun, Maryland, and Grant Peterson of Jarrettsville, Maryland. His sons were the pride of his life, and there was never a doubt about how deeply he loved them. The memories they shared, the lessons he taught, and the unconditional love he gave will remain with them forever. Though they will miss him beyond words, his presence will continue to guide them through every chapter of their lives.

Mark was also the proud and loving grandfather of Scarlett Marie and Isabella May, who absolutely adored their Pop-Pop. Their faces lit up whenever they saw him, and there was nothing that brought Mark more happiness than spending time with his granddaughters. His love for them was endless, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.

In addition to his beloved granddaughters, Mark is survived by his mother, Melanie Peterson of Tennessee; his brother, Michael Peterson, and Emma Grace, who was like the daughter he never had and held a special place in his heart; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering friendship.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Mark Wade Peterson.

Mark's legacy extends far beyond his family. He quietly used his talents to help others, including donating his time and expertise to build the website for the Edwards Syndrome Association, a nonprofit founded to support families affected by Trisomy 18, inspired by Emma Grace. It was a labor of love that reflected his generous heart and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Here is the website;

Though his time here was far too short, Mark will be remembered for his service, his humility, his willingness to help without expecting anything in return, and, most importantly, the immense love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland 21901.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Edwards Syndrome Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families affected by Trisomy 18. The organization held a special place in Mark's heart, and he generously donated his time and talents to build the association's website, leaving a lasting gift that continues to serve families today. Donations made in his memory will help continue that mission of hope, support, and compassion.
