Marie Elizabeth Schwartz

Marie Elizabeth Schwartz, 91 of Wilmington, DE, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Born in Chester, PA, on October 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward Gillespie of Eddystone and the late Marie McCew Gillespie of Chester. Marie grew up in Chester, PA, attended St. Michael's R.C. Church School and graduated from Notre Dame High School for girls in Mayland, PA in 1938. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and cooking for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfred J. Schwartz, Sr. The couple is survived by their five children: Marie Roberts of North East, MD, Ann Kearney of Wilmington, DE, Barbara Mullen of Clayton, DE, Teresa Gillin of Kennett Square, PA and Alfred J. Schwartz, Jr. of New Castle, DE; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, 928 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
