Maria Ann (Thomas) Bower

Maria Ann Bower, 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on November 19, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. Thomas, Sr., and the late Anna Mae (Cook) Thomas.  She was the wife of the late Donald Norman Bower who passed away on July 27, 2019.

Maria or “Maryann,” as she was known to friends and family, was a 1967 graduate of De La Warr High School and received a B.A. from Delaware Technical and Community College.

Maria retired after working for many years for the State of Delaware Welfare Department.   She adored her three dogs:  Roscoe, Shorty, and Chopper. She was a lifetime member of Berean Baptist Church in New Castle, DE.

Survivors include her children: Donald J. Bower of New Castle, DE, and Crystal Bower of Wilmington, DE; a brother: Benjamin G. Thomas, Jr. of New Castle, DE; and three grandchildren:  Lily Bower-Moore, Tristan Bower-Moore, and Jacob Bower-Moore, all of Wilmington, DE.

Funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
