Lucretia Ann Butcher, 71, of Rising Sun, MD, died Sunday, May 29, 2005 at home. Born in Fairmont, WV, on October 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Morner E. and the late Opal Moran King. Mrs. Butcher retired in 1996 as a nursing supervisor at Union Hospital after 40 years of service. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jessie R. Butcher, Sr. of Rising Sun, MD; her children, Jesse Ray Butcher, Jr. of Rising Sun, MD, and Dianne Almquist and Carol Parker, both of North East, MD; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters, all of West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Butcher, who died in 2001. Private services will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, North East, MD. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Hokuf of the First Baptist Church of North East will officiate. Interment will follow services in Ebenezer Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her name be made to the First Baptist Church of North East, 206 Mechanics Valley Road, North East, MD 21901.
