Lotan Charles Poore, “Bud”, 84 of Rising Sun, MD passed away Friday, July 12, 2024.

Born July 27, 1939, he was the son of the late, Stanley and Bessie (Bullock) Poore.  Bud grew up in Twin Oaks, PA.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years: Jacqueline “Jackie” (Wilson) Poore; also, his children: Kimberlee and George Gannon, Jack Goldstein and Nicole DeCampli, Daniel and Cindy Goldstein, Debbie and Darryl Schneider; and 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Bud graduated from Chichester High School in 1957.  In September of that year, he began working for Sears & Roebuck in DE for 5 years.  He bought his first country store in September 1963 in the West Chester PA area. He operated that store for 10 years. Bud and Jackie moved to MD in 1977 when he purchased a country store in Conowingo, MD.  A few years later he added another store near Rising Sun, MD. He also owned Brantwood Liquors and a Citgo Gas Station in Conowingo, MD. After selling those stores and retiring, he owned and operated The Flag Shop in North East for the past 20 years.

Bud played music in his younger days.  He was a member of The Ray Carr Orchestra in West Chester, PA for 10 years.

Bud and Jackie have been active members of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church in North East, MD for over 46 years.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. There will be a Masonic Service on Wednesday evening.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD. Father John Schaeffer will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers are welcome or donations in memory of Bud may be made to St. Mary Anne’s Outreach Program, in care of Crouch Funeral Home.
