Lois Sexton Tweed

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lillie Lois Sexton Tweed, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Rising Sun, MD, who left us on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on March 6, 1935, in Lansing, NC, Lois filled the lives of those around her with love, joy, and the warmth of family.

 For those who knew her, Lois was more than just a mother to her children-daughters, Sharon Grove of Calabash, NC, Patty Nieves of Wilmington, DE, and Nancy Pisano of Calabash, NC, and her late son, David 'Mickey" Tweed-she was the heart of the family. She cherished her time with her children and took great joy in being a grandmother to five and a great-grandmother to eleven. Her love extended beyond immediate family; she held a treasured bond with her siblings: brothers Earl Sexton of Perryville, MD and Joseph Sexton of Fairfax, VA, and sisters Eva Shallcross Peyton of Hollywood, FL and Bessie Gelinas of White Lakes, MI.

In addition to her son, Mickey, she was preceded in death by her parents, Conley P. Sexton and Ella Mae (Miller) Sexton. 

Lois found peace and community in her faith, attending the Gospel Freewill Baptist Church in Nottingham, PA, where she made lasting friendships and found comfort in her belief.

 Visitation will be held at Crouch Funeral Home P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather and celebrate her life. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where we will share our memories and honor the wonderful woman we were so fortunate to have in our lives. Lois will be laid to rest later that day at Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD, surrounded by the love she fostered throughout her life.Lillie Lois Sexton Tweed may have departed from this world, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and family will endure in all of us who knew her.
