Lois Lorraine Gatchell

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

Lois Lorraine Gatchell, age 94 of North East, MD, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at home.

Born in Kelleysville, WV, on February 16, 1921, she was the daughter of Oscar Byrd and Rosa Lee Caves.

Mrs. Gatchell enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, reading and gardening.  She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and caregiving for young children throughout her lifetime.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters: Nancy Justice, Linda Wiles (Harold)  and Vicki Gibson of North East, MD; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister: Zenith Chilco of Bluefield, WV; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gatchell is preceded by her daughter: Brenda L. Rakes; nine siblings; and her husband Francis Gatchell.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Amedisys Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
