Lloyd Vernon Smith, 81 of Elkton, MD, died Friday, October 3, 2008 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in Baltimore, MD, on January 27, 1927, he was the son of the late James A. and the late Bessie Taylor Smith. He served during World War II in the Army. Lloyd was a Furniture salesman for Hecht's in Baltimore, MD for 49 years before his retirement. Mr. Smith was an Army Veteran serving in WW II and was a member of American Legion Post 194, Rising Sun, MD. Survived by his daughter: Terrie Geckle of Midlothian, VA, sister: Eleanor MacDonald of Perry Hall, MD. Nieces: Marilyn, Brenda and Gail; Nephews: Jay, Norman and John. Stepsons Bud and Bob and a Stepdaughter, Barb. 3 Grandchildren, Kaitlin, Nathaniel Delaney. Mr. Smith is also survived by 6 step- grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Daniel T. Gedman, will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive friend from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday.
