Lena B. Piatt

Lena B. Piatt, 78 of Elkton, MD, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Englewood, OH, on August 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and the late Amanda S. Dearth Harris. She was the wife of the late Claude L. "Sonny" Piatt who died on Feb. 20, 1995. She was employed in the Housekeeping Department of W.L. Gore, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East. Survivors include: her children: Sharon Brindle and her husband John of Rock Hill, SC; Brenda Simpson and her husband Joseph, Jr. "Jody" of Greensboro, NC; Walter Hassler of Elkton, MD; Claudia Smith and her husband James of Sophia, NC; Claude "Skip" Piatt and his wife Francis of North East, MD; her grandchildren: Dawn Tolles, Coleman Brindle, Eric Simpson, Erin Hassler, Ben Hassler, Joseph Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jonathan Smith, Ashley Smith, Angela Smith, Catherine Piatt and Sunny Piatt; her great-grandchildren: Laelynn, Julia, Brandon, Shane, Boe, Blaze, Tyler, Jewel, Damion, James, Abbie and Daniel; her sisters: Louise Bowers of Englewood, OH; Susan Schwalbauch of Elkton, MD; and Ester Woolery of Effingham, IL; and one brother: Walter Harris of Peoria, AZ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by: five sisters: Florence Harshbarger; Mildred Fisher; Gertha Verble; Ella Wright and Ada Geiger. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Of North East, 206 Mechanics Valley Road, North East, MD, where family and friends may call beginning at 11:00 AM.
