Karin Brüggemann Allen

Karin Brüggemann Allen, 82 of Conowingo, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Born in Münster, Germany on November 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Hermann and Gertrud (Söhnolz) Brüggemann.

A devoted wife, companion, mother, grandmother and friend. A woman of great faith, strong convictions and a generous heart. Her faith brought her home to eternal peace.

At 17 years old she married Harris Lamar Allen, a soldier in the US Army and moved to the United States at that time.

Karin worked on Bainbridge for the Navy as a Civil Service employee and retired as a program analyst from AMSA – Allied Military Security Agency. She was the first woman to represent the United States at NATO. She met and dined with leaders and diplomats of all foreign countries.

She loved gardening and her family. Faith was most important to her as a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, North East, MD. Karin was proud of her German history and the telling of her life there. Yet she was also proud to be an American and taking a stand for her beliefs as a Republican supporter.

Karin is survived by her sons: Steven (Keri Jo) Allen and Michael (Darlene) Allen, both of Conowingo, MD; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; beloved companion of over 20 years: Noel McLaughlin of Gatesville, TX; siblings: Baulder, Lore and Gisala all of Germany, as well as all of her family there.

In addition to her parents, Karin was preceded in death by her husband: Harris L. Allen; and sister: Rosi

A special thank you to all who added Karin to your prayers during this time.
