Joseph Alvin Russell, Jr., "Joeboy" 67 of North East, MD, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on June 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Russell, Sr. and IvaGene Yohn Hodges. He was a member of the 29th Division of the MD National Guard. Mr. Russell owned and operated Russell's Sunoco, Russell's Auto Parts and Rogers True Value, North East, MD. He loved fishing, hunting, watching his grandkids play ball and eating good food, especially his wife's pies! Mostly he enjoyed his family and adored his grandchildren. He would always tell us there is nothing more important than family. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lynda Russell; two children: Lynnette Matricciani and her husband Guy, Joseph "Brandt" Russell and his wife Brandy all of North East, MD; 5 grandchildren: Brooke Janney, Jaclyn Janney, Joseph Matricciani, Jade Russell and Jacob Russell; his brothers: Jack Hughes and Jeff Hughes both of Port Deposit, MD; and his sisters: Vicki Lugotti of Las Vegas, NV, Stephanie Hodges Adcock of Las Vegas, NV and Melissa Gearny of Washington, UT. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Jeff Wisot will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to the American Legion Post 194 of Rising Sun or the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.
