John Sherman Taylor, Jr., 94 of North East, MD, died Friday, June 12, 2009 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. Born in Norton, VA, on November 30, 1914, he was the son of the late John S. Taylor, Sr. and the late Bertha Maude Simpkins Taylor. He was the husband of the late Geraldine Cunningham Taylor who died in 2001. Mr. Taylor served during World War II in the Army Air Force in the 44th Fighter Squadron, 18th Fighter Group. He retired in 1981 from Automatic Sales, working in refrigeration & electronics, and he worked for Pepsi in Princeton, West Virginia for 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North East, North East, MD and American Legion Post #135, Perryville, MD. Survivors include his two daughters: Nancy Sue Falkenstein of North East, MD, Jane Sherman Rutledge of Port Deposit, MD; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Harford Memorial Gardens, 3839 Aldino Road, Aberdeen, MD. Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Hokuf will officiate.
