John Peter Schmidt, Uncle Jeep, 61, of Charlestown, MD, passed on to be with our Lord on February 8, 2008. Born in Baltimore, MD, on May 10, 1946, he resided in Indiana until moving to Aberdeen where he graduated from high school in 1969. He moved to Baltimore County, working as a truck driver for Clay Stanbaugh until 1984, when he became disabled. He lived with his sister, Kathy Swauger until moving to Charlestown. Jeep was an avid NASCAR fan and collector. He especially liked Tony Stewart, #20. He also loved collecting coins and had an awesome collection. He loved to garden and was never without his cup of coffee. He is survived by his sisters: Paula Meek and her husband Duane of Fort Mills, SC; Dee Aburn of Perryville, MD; and Kathy Swauger of Middle River, MD. Also several nieces and nephews, with a few he treated like his own children: Dewayne, Garry Sr., Randy, and Garry Swauger, Jr. Garry, Jr. resided with his beloved Uncle Jeep for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sara Garrison Schmidt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where family and friends may call Tuesday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
