John Richard Keithley

John Richard Keithley, 85 of Conowingo, MD, formerly of North East, passed peacefully at home Tuesday, September 27, 2011. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elk Neck on January 7, 1926, the son of the late Emily Bell Keithley. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Keithley who died in 1987. He served his country in the Army. John retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service. Dad enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, crabbing, playing cards, watching Jeopardy, horse racing, playing the Lottery and a good cigar. He is survived by two sons: John R. Keithley, Jr. and Kenneth W. Keithley both of North East, MD and five daughters: Katherine Covello of CO, Marlene Grove of Bear, DE, Karen S. Hamlow of Petaluma, CA, Anna E. Keithley and Elaine P. Roark both of Conowingo, MD; two sisters: Lilly Hatt and Dorothy Taggert both of Elkton, MD; 13 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Robert Hall will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
