John Mather Fox

John Mather Fox, 88 of Elkton, MD, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Elkton Care and Rehab Center, Elkton, MD. Born in Pennsauken, NJ, on March 16, 1923, he was the son of the late William Albert and the late Lelia Mather Stout Fox. He served admirably in the U.S. Army during World War II, being wounded in combat at the European Theater, Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. He was an Electrical Engineer for United Engineers and Construction now Washington Group. Mr. Fox was a member of St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, North East, MD; a previous member of Grace Episcopal Church, Merchantville, NJ; and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Havre de Grace Chapter. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Jane Miller Fox; daughter: Janice Flood and her husband Andrew T.; grandchildren: Elisabeth J. Lester and her husband Phillip M., Christopher M. Flood, Peter J. Flood and Joseph B. Flood all of Elkton, MD; and a sister: A. Virginia Suiter of Wilmington, DE. A Memorial Service, conducted by Father Samuel Hartman will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD. Interment with full military honors will follow in the St. Mary Anne's Christine Cameron Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorial donations to the church.
