John J. Diamonte, Sr.
Born in Charlestown, MD, on December 24, 1946, John J was the son of the late Mario and the late Lorraine (Borden) Diamonte.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he trained in underwater demolition.
John J was employed by Amtrak, beginning his 33 year career as a laborer and later transitioning to a management position as a resident engineer, overseeing construction projects.
He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards or billiards. Most of all he loved his family and friends.
John J is survived by his brother: Oliver A. Diamonte of Elkton, MD; Vicki Diamonte, his wife of 22 years; his children: Sean and Amanda Diamonte, Christina Diamonte, and John Diamonte, Jr. all of North East; his stepchildren: William and Rebecca Harman of Charlestown, Wendy Van Dyke and Darrin Pritchard of Port Deposit, Paul Andrew and Kim Harman of Charlestown, WV; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests on Tuesday, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and again in the evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Rev. Kenneth Murray and Rev. Dennis Gilbert will officiate.
Interment will be private.
