John Edward "Mountain" Adkins

The world became a little less bright with the passing of John Edward " Mountain" Adkins, 62 of Charlestown, MD, on Monday, November 17, 2025.

John's infectious laughter and humor brought joy to everyone around him. He never knew a stranger and was the first one to help anyone in need. He loved and cherished his wife, Betty Adkins, and told her lovingly several times a day, every day.

He enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, spending time with his friends, and cherishing his children and grandchildren.

You could find him early in the mornings with his Coffee Crew and his 2nd family at the North East Family Restaurant and Wright's Deli.

John was a past Lt. of the Charlestown Fire Company, Station 5. He worked many years in the home repair industry.

He is lovingly survived by his beloved wife, Betty (Rust) Adkins, his children, Denise Quesenbery (John), Paula Mosley (Emmitt), and Dwayne Kisner (Sandy), grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Luke, Emmitt Jr., Matt, Michelle, Kathleen, and Timothy, and his great-grandchildren, Connor and Dalton. He is also survived by his siblings, Harley R. Adkins, Wanda Green (Will), Mark Adkins, and Althea Bobb, several nieces and nephews, along with great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his lifelong friends and families, Joe McKinney, Jason Biggs and family, Dave Simpers, and Sambo Perkins and family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Robert Adkins and Dorothy Frances "Tootie" (Hart) Adkins, and a sister, Barbara Harris.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.
