Jean Hazel (Briscoe) Manning

It is with great sadness the family of Jean Hazel Manning (Briscoe) announces her passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

Jean was the middle child of five born on July 8, 1953 to the late Louella Chris Ann Briscoe.  She was a lifelong resident of North East, MD and grew up attending St Marks AUMP Church in Elk Neck, MD.  She accepted Christ into her life at an early age.

Jean retired from the Perry Point VA Medical Center with over 30 years of service in the food service department. She enjoyed doing word search and jigsaw puzzles, spending time at the Senior Center in Elkton, reading the Bible, cooking, going to North East Park and spending time with her family.  She loved every holiday but Christmas was her favorite.  She was known for singlehandedly cooking both Christmas breakfast and dinner for her entire family and friends.

Jean was also an avid sports fan.  She liked all sports but her favorite sport was basketball.  She could often be found watching the game on the NBA channel or watching reruns of the playoffs during the off season.  She never missed a Golden State Warriors game.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Tasha and Kelly Manning; her sister: Linda Sue Briscoe; brother: Jay Briscoe; and nephew: Andre Briscoe.  Jean will also fondly be remembered by her three precious grandchildren: Anna, 2e, and Nugget.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Wallace Manning; mother: Louella Chris Ann Briscoe; sister: Nancy Ann Briscoe; brother: Arthur Rolland Briscoe Sr.; and grandparents: Harry and Sally (Young) Briscoe.

Jean will forever be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
