Janet Ferguson Fanning, 80 of Elkton, MD, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in North East, MD, on January 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Andrew Benjamin and Mabel Virginia (Bryan) Ferguson. She was the wife of 51 years of the late Roy B. Fanning who died October 6, 2003.
She was a Manager, employed by Stewarts Restaurant, North East, MD for 26 years and managed several local physicians’ offices. She was also employed at Union Hospital.
Mrs. Fanning was a member of North East United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was an avid reader, loved crocheting and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by five daughters: Lisa Pinder (Rick) of Elkton, MD; Wanda Dinbokowitz (Frank) of Warwick, MD; Nona Fanning of Cecilton, MD; Lori Hatton (Randy) of Elkton, MD; Tara Price (Roger) of North East, MD and one son: Roy Glenn Fanning (Ann) of Galena, MD. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Danielle Zack, Kristin Schneiders, Natesa Wilson, Andrew Dinbokowitz, Nathan Wilson, Luke Hatton, Colt and Legend Price; and 8 great grandchildren: Dyllan, Payton, Carder, Mason, Connor, Toben, Kaden and Carson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Vernon, Otis, Frank, Allen and Weldon Ferguson, Sylvia Davidson and Bettie Western.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, MD. There will be a visitation prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 am.
Rev. Bert Jicha and Rev. Jack Cohen will officiate.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to North East High School Scholarship Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
