James "Jimmy" Henry Futty

James "Jimmy" Henry Futty, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at his home in Cape Coral, FL on Sunday, October 2nd 2022.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia, sons: Eddie (wife Pat) and Kevin (wife Andrea), grandsons: Christopher and Joshua, sisters: Alma Faul of Laurel, MS, Frances McCone of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Elizabeth Mabry of Chatsworth, GA, and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his older brother, Charles and Charles' wife Shirley.

James was born on September 16, 1946 in Bel Air, MD.  He was the 3rd child of Charles E. and Margaret E. Futty and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1964.  With a natural aptitude for building and fixing things, he began apprenticeship in welding and other trades at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore and retired there 30 years later.  James served in the Army National Guard for 6 years with an Honorable Discharge in 1972.

James enjoyed playing softball in recreational leagues for most of his life, winning championships with his team into his 70's.  He took after his father in his love for planting and farming and spent many hours in his vegetable garden near his vacation home in Ocean City, MD.  His heart truly was in the country and outdoors while boating, fishing and crabbing, mud-bogging and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  James served as Master of the Jephthah Lodge in Essex, MD, where he was a member for over 20 years.   He and his wife enjoyed country dancing together and traveling by RV from Florida to Maryland and other states to watch his son Kevin and grandsons compete in BMX racing.

Viewings will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with a Masonic service held at 7pm.  Funeral service on will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11am.

Interment will follow in Hart’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Elk Neck, MD in the family plot next to his mother, father and uncle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations payable to Children’s Shriners Hospital, sent in care of the funeral home.
