James O. Taylor, age 76 of North East, Maryland, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Born in McComas, West Virginia on June 11, 1927, he spent most of his life in Cecil County, Maryland. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army serving in Italy as a Ski Trooper and later joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. As a young man he attended Browns Vocational School in Wilmington, Delaware and Masseys Business College in Jacksonville, Florida. He owned and operated the family business, "Taylor's Welding Service, Inc"., Elkton, Maryland for 30 years. He was past Master of Elkton Lodge # 48, Elkton, Maryland past Patron of O.E.S. # 84, Elkton, Maryland, past President of the North East Lions Club, North East, Maryland and he attended Union United Methodist Church. Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty R. Taylor, North East, Maryland; one son, James V. Taylor and his wife, Sandy, one son preceded him in death, Jeffery Lynn Taylor, who died on June 10, 1992. Also surviving him are two grandsons, James K. Taylor and his wife, Jacki and Travis R. Taylor and his fiancee, Amy Hall, one sister, Dorothy Groves, Wilmington, Delaware; two brothers, Leon Taylor and his wife, Sally, Poguoson, Virginia and Gerald Taylor, Daytona Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Union United Methodist Church, Union Church & Leeds Road, Elkton, Maryland where family and friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Masonic service at 7:30 PM, Friday, June 27, 2003 at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Rev. Donald E. Alford of Union United Methodist Church, Elkton, Maryland will officiate. Interment will follow services in Union Cemetery, Elkton, Maryland.
