James Hugh Robinson

James Hugh Robinson was born in Harlem, NY on July 26, 1927, son of the late Marie Robinson.

James attended Brooklyn High School for Specialty Trades aka Westinghouse. Upon completion, James joined the United States Army, in which he served for five years during World War II. Upon his discharge from the Army he received the Army of Occupation Medal for his time in Germany and the Good Conduct Medal. In January 1957 James met his life partner, Gladys Thomas. With this union they had four children, three boys and one girl.

James moved on to a career as a New York City Transit Police Officer in which he served for more than 20 years. He was a strong figure in his Brooklyn neighborhood where he had a hot dog stand. The kids would call him “Mr. James the Frank Man”. He was a man whom would lend a helping hand if he could. He was a hard-working family man who loved baseball and Jazz music. James will be missed but by no means forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his three sons: Randolph Thomas (Nadine), Harvey Thomas (Peggy) and James Thomas (Dotlyn); one daughter: Myra Thomas Brown (Hervin); seven granddaughters: Brandi Thomas, Destiny Thomas, Angelique Robinson, Shawni Mitchell, Iasia Thortnon, Synatra Brown, Tonia Lynch and Shanette Brown; six grandsons: Stephon Brown, James N. McMurray, Hervin and Diquan Brown, Randell Timmons and Basheem Corley; and twelve great grandchildren.
