James “Jim” S. Rowles, III, 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Born on February 10, 1934, James was the son of the late James S. Rowles, Jr. and Flora May McClelland Rowles. A proud and honorable man, Jim proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran. Following his military service, he devoted many years to his trade as a union carpenter and was a longtime, respected member of Carpenters Local 626 out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jim was a hardworking man who took great pride in all that he did. He was happiest outdoors, where he could enjoy the simple pleasures of nature and the many activities he loved. An avid outdoorsman, Jim especially enjoyed deer hunting, duck and goose hunting, skeet shooting, and crabbing. He also found great joy in gardening and took particular pride in caring for his flower beds. His hands were rarely still, and there was a quiet satisfaction in seeing the things he worked on grow and flourish.

Those who knew Jim will remember him as a strong, dependable, and genuine man who valued hard work, family, and the outdoors. He created countless memories throughout his 92 years, and those memories will remain treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Susan DiSabatino and Marian Roberts; his devoted companion of 13 years, Jean “Rennie” Irene Carter; his sister, Lareda Tome, and her husband, Vernon; eight grandchildren; countless great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred “Jackie” Rowles; his son, David Allison; his brothers, Harold Rowles and Thomas Rowles; and his sister, Jean DeMond.

Jim leaves behind a life rich in hard work, service, family, friendship, and the simple joys of the outdoors. His strong spirit, warm heart, and the many memories he created with those he loved will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services for James “Jim” S. Rowles, III will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 S. Main Street, North East, Maryland.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at St. Mary Ann’s Cemetery, 315 South Main Street, North East, Maryland.
