James Franklin Fitzgerald, 81 of Elkton, MD, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at home.

Born in Spottswood, VA, on November 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Leonard Wilson and the late Jessie Rowan (Helmick) Fitzgerald.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a 1951 graduate of Spottswood High School.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a lineman for IBEW – Local 70, Washington, DC.  He then worked as a truck driver retiring from Malone Freight Line.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of Old Providence Presbyterian Church, Spottswood, VA; IBEW - Local 70, Washington, DC.  He enjoyed shooting pool, music and attending church.

Survivors include his loving wife: Elizabeth JoAnn (Truxell) Fitzgerald of Elkton, MD; two sons: Larry Fitzgerald and his wife Debra, Timothy Fitzgerald and his wife Trisha; a granddaughter: Jessie Lee Fitzgerald, all of North East, MD; and two grandsons: Brandon Herd and his wife Breanne of Parkesburg, PA and Kevin Brooks of Coatesville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother: Verney W. Fitzgerald.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Dennis Gilbert, Sr. will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 pm until service time.

Interment will be in Old Providence Presbyterian Cemetery, Spottswood, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be sent to: Hope Children's Home, 11415 Hope International Drive, Tampa, FL  33625.
