James A. Dashler James Alfred Dashler, age 82 of North East, Maryland, passed away Friday, February 20, 2004, at the Baltimore V.A. Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, on July 13, 1921, he was a son of the late Walter Dashler and Ethel Knight Dashler. He was a lifelong resident of North East, Maryland. Mr. Dashler was a retired lineman for Penn Railroad and helped to build the railroad bridges in Perryville and Havre de Grace, Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in France. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6027, North East, Maryland, and the American Legion Post 135, Perryville, Maryland. He enjoyed cutting firewood. Mr. Dashler was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Alberta Dashler, who died July 15, 1988. He is survived by his sons, David B. Keithley, Aberdeen, Maryland, Henry Ray, and Stewart Dye "Lizard", both of North East, Maryland, daughters, Dorothy Ray, Honaker, Virginia, Gladys Ray Taylor, Middletown, Delaware, Mable Ray Blatchford, Las Vegas, Nevada, Helen Ray Connard, Elkton, Maryland, Francis Ray Vates, Honaker, Virginia, Betty Collins Pickthorn, Dayton, Ohio, and Linda Collins Stump, Honaker, Virginia, nephew, John Dashler, Dalton, Georgia, 24 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2004, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry Wilson, will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow services in Angel Hill Cemetery, Havre de Grace, Maryland.
