Iris Elane Foote

Iris Elane Foote, 73 of Elkton, MD, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Sun Bridge Nursing Home, Elkton, MD. Born in Davenport, VA, on May 12, 1935 on her mother's birthday, she was the daughter of the late Walter and the late Ruby Patton Ball. She was the wife of the late Clarence Wilbur Foote who died August 19, 2004. She retired in 1972 from Edgewood Arsenal as a secretary for the Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense. While there, she previously worked as a secretary for Civilian Personnel. Mrs. Foote had accepted the Lord and lived a Christian life. She enjoyed travel, cooking, camping, crossword puzzles, crocheting, flower arrangements and gardening, especially growing iris and hostas. She also enjoyed shopping, dining out, visiting the beach and Maine's lighthouses. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was very motherly to all. Survivors include her sister, Jo Sue Wassum of Aberdeen, MD; two brothers: Frank Ball and Gary Lee Ball both of Lebanon, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Russell, Donald W., Betty Jo and Roger Ball. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 31, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Elder Jeffrey Owens of Mountain Christian Church, Joppa, MD will officiate. Interment will follow in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.
