Ilena O. Bowman

Ilena O. Bowman, 84 of Perryville, MD, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Grassy Creek, NC, on August 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Guy and the late Ina June Johnson West. She was the wife of the late James Wiley Bowman who died on March 30, 1999. Mrs. Bowman worked at Bata Shoe. She was a member of Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, Charlestown, MD. She enjoyed needlepoint, playing solitary and puzzle books. She loved her dog Pickles. Survivors include her 5 children: Darlene I. Duncan of Perryville, MD, James H. Bowman of TN, Johnny Bowman of Conowingo, MD, Charles Bowman of Perryville, MD and Delores Taylor of Red Lion, PA; 1 brother: Guy West, Jr. of Plymouth, NE; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James H. Bowman, Jr. and granddaughter, Rose Marie Ehrhardt. Funeral services, conducted by Rev, Dennis Gilbert will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, 1168 West Old Philadelphia Road, Charlestown, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will follow services in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora, MD.
