Ida Mae (Amster) Carr, age 93, of North East, MD, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 after a brief hospitalization.

Born on November 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Leon and the late Myrtle (Cook) Amster.  She shared a loving marriage for 66 years with the late G. Robert Carr who died January 8, 2008. She was predeceased by her sisters Phyllis Rife, Dorothy Quinn, and Anita Helms.

Mrs. Carr was an accomplished singer and active in her high school chorus, church choir and sang the lead in a community operetta in 1951.  From 1939 to 1945, Mrs. Carr worked as a Bell Telephone Operator. She stopped working when her husband returned home from World War II. She and Robert lived in West Chester PA for 34 years before retiring to Hances Point, North East, MD in 1986.

She was a member of the Elkton Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon and was a member of Circle 3.  She had previously attended Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester, PA, where she served as a church circle leader for 20 years.

Mrs. Carr and her husband were avid boaters and members of the Delaware River Power Squadron.  While living in West Chester she served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and volunteered at the Chester County Hospital Bring and Buy Shop.  She enjoyed bowling and was a member of two bowling leagues for over 20 years. She had a special interest in cooking and entertaining, and especially enjoyed hosting family gatherings.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Carr Long and husband Gerald of Paoli, PA and son G. Robert Carr, Jr. and wife Suzanne C. Champion of Geneva, NY; two granddaughters, Emily Jean Carr of Sadsburyville, PA and Sarah Tomasina Carr of New York, NY.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Laurel Loveless will officiate. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery.
