Howard Martin

Howard Martin, 86 of Elkton, MD, died Monday, January 15, 2007 in the Laurelwood Nursing Center, Elkton, MD. Born in Shepherdstown, WV, on July 28, 1920, he was the son of the late Harry and the late Hatti Mansfield Martin. He was married to the late Myra Martin for 56 years, who died in 2004. He served during World War II in the Army. He retired from Boeing-Vertol as a Sheet Metal Worker and worked for Fairchild Industries after WW II. He enjoyed fishing and is a member of V.F.W. Post 6027, North East, MD. Survivors include two daughters: Susan Petlikowski of Port Deposit, MD, Barbara Nugent of Portland, OR and two sons: Howard Curtis Martin of Charlottesville, VA, Douglas Martin of New Castle, DE; Four sisters: Blanche Writt of Shepherdstown, WV, Betty Rickard of Harpers Ferry, WV, Anna Lee Pearrell of Charlestown, WV, Mary Fowler of Martinsburg, WV and three brothers: Glenn Martin of Dargan, MD, Melvin Martin of Bunker Hill, WV, James Martin of Kearneysville, WV. He is also survived by 8 grandsons and several great grandchildren. In addition to his late wife and parents, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Ruth Martin; and two brothers, Charles Martin and Harry Martin. Services were private.
