Henry Thomas Jacobs, Jr. of Elkton, MD was promoted to glory on May 6, 2024 at the age of 87. He was the son of the late Henry and Kate Caroline Jacobs. Jake was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and served as an aviation ordnanceman on P2V Neptune anti-submarine aircraft in the Mediterranean, western Europe, and the Atlantic coast of the USA. After his military service, Jake joined the Philadelphia Fire Department, which he described as, “the best job in the world”. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to lieutenant. Jake’s proudest moments as a fireman were serving in the 1960s & 1970s with Engine 2-Ladder 3, the busiest fire station in the country for 10 consecutive years.
Jake was married to the late Margaret Jacobs for 65 years and is survived by his sister Carole Flynn of Oregon, his daughter, Nancy Moore [Dave] of Elkton, MD, six grandchildren: Jonathan [Susanna], Emily, Andrew, Jessica, Hannah, and Madeline, and one great grandchild: Liam Henry.
Jake and Margaret moved to Elkton, MD in 1998 to be near their daughter and her family. He was a member of Elkton United Methodist Church.
