Helen Joann (Thomas) Sokol

Helen Joann Sokol, 71 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in the Christiana Care, Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.

Born in Baltimore, MD, on February 11, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Frank James Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Garey) Thomas.

Helen enjoyed painting by numbers.  Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandson, whom she lovingly called “Her Little Stinker”.

She is survived by her daughter: Helen Miller (Melvin) of Rising Sun, MD; companion: Mary Ianneo of Rising Sun, MD; 3 sisters: Katie Newell of Bunker Hill, WV, Noonie Goswellen of Baltimore, MD and Mary Knuckles of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren: Charles Walls, Jr. and Salean Miller; her great grandson: Charles Hartman Walls; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog: Buster.
