Helen Josephine (Kent) Brasefield

Helen Josephine Brasefield, of North East, MD, formerly of Easton, PA, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2016 at the age of 101.

She was born on April 24, 1915, on her great-uncle’s farm in Auburn, OH. Her parents were the late John E. and the late Alice O. (Forsha’) Kent.

Helen “Jo” graduated from Aurora High School (Ohio) in 1933 and was married August 11, 1938 to James S. Brasefield. For eleven years she and her husband operated their store, “Jim & Jo’s Hardware” in Seipsville, PA. Later she was employed by Keystone Foods in Easton, PA for 10 years.

Helen was a devoted wife and mother who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed family vacations at Ocean City, NJ, playing card games, and travelling. She was a Proverbs 31 woman.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, James S. Brasefield; all of her siblings; a grandson: Ronald Richard Brasefield; and a brother-in-law: Clayton E. Brasefield and his wife Helen.

She is survived by two sons: Edgar James Brasefield and his wife Jennie of Concord, NC, and Richard Charles Brasefield and his wife Nancy of Elkton, MD; and one daughter: Mary Alice Rudy and her husband Randy of Elkton, MD. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at The First Baptist Church of North East, North East, MD on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation starting one hour before the service.

Burial will be private.
